Re:      COVID-19 Update

The health and safety of our staff, clergy, religious, volunteers, parish communities, and beyond are of paramount importance to us.

As you may have heard, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy issued an executive order yesterday for all citizens in the state to “stay at home” effective last night, March 21, at 9:00 p.m. EST.

The order to “stay at home” is to decrease community density and achieve greater adherence to CDC guidelines that call for physical distancing to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The Archdiocese of Newark has already enacted several practices to keep our communities healthy and safe. We urge everyone to stay at home and, when out for essential needs only, please practice social distancing.

The Governor’s executive order has cancelled ALL social gatherings including weddings and other services.  The Governor also urges New Jersey residents, if they have a home at the shore, to remain in their primary residences, as the towns at the shore at this time will not be able to sustain additional residents.

Archdiocesan employees will continue to work remotely, and should consult their supervisors for further guidance and to determine work assignments.

Everyone should be prudent about from where information is received. We recommend visiting https://covid19.nj.gov for accurate and updated information available to the residents of New Jersey.

We also encourage you to continue to monitor our website at www.rcan.org/covid-19 and follow the Archdiocese of Newark’s social media channels @NwkArchdiocese for archdiocesan related announcements.

Please keep all affected nations, families, first responders and especially our health workers in your prayers throughout the coming days

Sincerely,

The Archdiocese of Newark Coronavirus Task Force
